Uganda Christian University (UCU) is an authentic Christian institution established by the Church of Uganda in 1997 in response to a call for quality university education with a Christian perspective with its main campus at Mukono and Arua Campus being one of its Campuses.
Uganda Christian University (UCU) Arua Campus was first the home of a Rural Trade School founded in 1959 by the African Inland Mission (AIM) under the leadership of its first principal the Rev. Robert Booth. Booth was a missionary from the USA, he lay the foundation of the training institution at Ringili in the West Nile Region of Uganda.
In the 1960’s, the School became a Lugbara Lay Reader’s Training College. Later during the 1970’s the course was then taught in English. In 1978, a full priest ordination course was started. This was a residential training program that allowed students to come with their families, then it was call St. Paul’s Theological College.
In 2003, the Theological College became a Study Center of Uganda Christian University offering academic programs in Education, Social Sciences and Education. The then Study Center became a fully-fledged Campus of Uganda Christian University and the Campus is soon becoming the third Constituent College of the University. Today, UCU Arua Campus has over 700 students studying in various disciplines such as Education, Theology, Social Sciences, Business and Information Technology. The Campus has contributed enormously to the socio-economic and spiritual development of West Nile, the Northern Uganda and the entire country, South Sudan, Sudan and DR Congo by training human resource in the various stated disciplines.
