UCU Arua Campus

The UCU – Arua Campus was established in August 2003. Formerly, it was St. Paul’s Regional Theological College, offering diploma and certificate courses in Theology and also training of Lay Readers in the West Nile region and beyond. At its inception, four departments (i.e. Theology, Business Administration, Social Sciences and Education) were established for bachelor’s degrees with a humble beginning of about 80 students and 27 academic and non-academic staff.

The Growth
To date, these departments have been maintained with student enrolment of 668 and about 100 staff.
The University took over premises and buildings of the Theological College but has since constructed a multipurpose hall, which also doubles as the University Chapel. Another building is the library and block of lecture rooms to accommodate the increasing number of students.
One positive aspect of the university is that university education has been decentralised to train the much-needed human resources in the district local governments at more affordable rates.
